A Snowstorm

The view from my porch this evening. Our second “real” Maine snowstorm of this winter. As we returned from a friend’s birthday dinner this evening, we drove through our town coated in snow that is not yet turned brown by the plows, and it was so serene and beautiful. Some homes still have Christmas lights on, and they stood out brightly against the pure white backdrop. I hate the cold of winter, and the dark, but snow, true snow and not sleet or freezing rain, always makes me smile and feel a shiver of excitement. I have lived in Maine all of my life and the snowstorms still carry magic for me.

Snow provokes responses that reach right back to childhood.

  1. We had snow down here, and I was lucky enough to be able to play most of the time we were out with the girls, building snow castles and sledding. Snow is magical.

  2. A snowstorm is so much better and more magical than a light snow. My kids are so excited to go out and play in it today!

  3. Love Xmas lights in the snow!

    Happy New Year Krista!
