Broccoli Stamping

While cooking dinner yesterday, I had a sudden inspiration for the stalks of the broccoli that I had cut off to discard. I looked at them, and saw that they were such interesting shapes, and thought that Simon might really like stamping with them. I poured a little paint out for him to dip into and spread some sheets of paper on the table. He immediately knew what to do and had a great time.

Next time you have stems chopped off from vegetables, perhaps you should consider using them for this type of kid-friendly printmaking.

  1. SO creative!!!

  2. What a cool idea! I have used potatoes and sweet potatoes with the kiddos before but have never thought to use the broccoli stems. Oh all the broccoli stems I have thrown away in the past…just think of the fun they could have brought to the kiddos…I will be thinking twice before I compost any future fruit and veggie parts. Thanks for sharing.

  3. This is a great idea for leftover scraps! I’ll keep this in mind when I’m cooking.
