Yesterday, Simon and I went out to play. We brought a bucket of water with us, and once outside, we grabbed some of his designated outdoor toys such as a couple of shovels and miscellaneous containers. One of the things we did while out there was make a pretend “soup” out of found natural materials and water. We selected a stick of suitable size to make-believe was a spoon, and we added various bits of nature to our dish. Leaves, seeds, dirt, tiny pebbles, clover flowers, and more got tossed in there. We then added enough water to make it very “soupy”.
This was a fun way to bring kitchen role-play into the outdoors, to turn nature into a toy, and to use our imaginations while connecting with the outside world.
