Our Red, White, and Blue

Happy Independence Day to all of my fellow Americans! We celebrated today as a family by visiting Simon’s great-grandmother (Jeramy’s grandmother) and spending time with her. She set up a kiddie pool for Simon to play in, he watered her plants (even though rain was on the way), and we ate a delicious dinner of pulled pork on fresh rolls, sweet potato fries, and 2 kinds of homemade cole slaw. We ate ages ago and I am still stuffed!

I took a lot of pictures today, but the ones I am going to share in this post are of some red, white, and blue that I spotted while we were there.

Simon is still too little to make it until 9:30 pm to watch fireworks, so we came home and tucked him into bed. Jeramy is not a big fan of fireworks, so he originally planned to stay home with our little Buggle while I went out to watch them. There is a local theater that we traditionally park our car in, away from the crowd, and we sit on the hood of the car to watch. Since Simon was born we have missed out, so I was really looking forward to going. However, a major rainstorm came through today and caused them to postpone until tomorrow. I missed out tonight but might still get my chance to see a few tomorrow.

If you are from the U.S., tell me how you celebrated today.

  1. Aw love how festive your holiday was! Years ago I used to decorate for holidays and have special dinners and somewhere along the way I stopped. Seeing your set table makes me want to do something special for next 4th of July!

    • I wish I could claim credit for the table…but it was all my husband’s Grandmother. She is awesome. She will set a gorgeous table on any old Wednesday. I loved that she had an eagle plate for Simon to fit the theme!
