From The Hospital

Posting quickly tonight from our hospital room, where we have been admitted overnight because Simon has croup. I am happy to say he is improving. This morning when he woke up crying at 5am he could barely breathe. Now he is resting on top of Daddy, while he takes a turn on snuggle duty so that I can have a little something to eat.

This is my child’s first time with an IV, and first overnight hospital stay since birth. Even when you know that everything will turn out fine it is still pretty scary stuff. We are hoping they say Simon is healthy enough for home tomorrow so that we can all get rested in our own comfy bed.

  1. Croup sucks. Ashlin had it around Halloween, thankfully, not bad enough to go to the hospital. She dehydrated badly from a tummy flu not too long ago, and had to have IV fluids. So not fun.

    Hope he’s better tomorrow!

  2. Hope he feels better soon!

  3. Very scary! I’m so sorry to hear this! Nothing worse than a hospital stay for your little one. A very helpless feeling, for sure. I’m so glad to hear he’ll be okay and that you have Daddy to share the “burden” with you. Sending good thoughts Simon’s way!

  4. As a proud father and grandfather I was able to witness the love and patience
of a wonderful little family! I am truly proud of them! They stick together through thick & thin, roll with the punches and support their little one with the virtue of saints. Hope this day brings healing and a return to the normalcy of home. May spring see you all to a better place full of peace and adventure and good health!

  5. Oy! I can imagine how scary that must be. Hope your son is feeling much better today, and you are able to leave the hospital quickly.

Sending lots of healthy thoughts your way,

  6. So scary! Glad it is going to be okay.

My daughter had a bronchoscopy when she was 19 months because she choice on a peanut (bad mommy). It was super scary. I slept in the hospital crib with her. Needless to say my kids are not getting peanuts again until they are like 18!

  7. praying for simon’s health to improve so that you can all go home tomorrow!
