The First Park Visit Of Spring

The weather has been stupendous lately! Sun shining, blue skies decorated with fluffy, white clouds, and so warm that the snow can only be found in patches hiding in the shady areas. Green life is sprouting out of the ground, and the birds are singing Spring’s praises.

And so am I.

Simon and I had our first Spring park visit of the year yesterday. It was absolutely wonderful! I didn’t even need a jacket, just a good pair of waterproof Wellies for navigating the muddy ground. I will be hunting down a pair for Simon this week. Thankfully, he is so light that he mostly flitted across the top of the swampy ground. Of course, like any child would, he sought out every puddle and patch of slick mud that he could find, and dove his feet right in, much to my dismay.

He also spent a good deal of time testing out every stick he found, until he found just the right one. I wish I could have known what thoughts were spinning through his toddler mind as he held each one up and gave it a test run before discarding it.

We left when I decided his feet were quite wet enough, and that a snack was in order. We will be enjoying many, many more park days to come.

  1. Love the photos. They totally capture the day. Em and I had a similar day this past weekend (I too was inspired to write about it because it was so fantastic). Seems like there are lots of mamas and children who are just breathing in the sun and the early spring air.
