To Be Still


Things came up today that caused us to cancel all plans and just take a time out. Life has a way of letting you know what you need to do, and it turns out we needed some quiet regrouping here today.

Today I have again been thinking about the concept of cultivating stillness. Sometimes it is the harder choice, but it is one worth making, to simply let go and chill out. To be still. There are so many things that can come into our daily lives and cause us stress, and at times we need to practice patience rather than allowing the worry of “what if” to overtake our minds.

I am a born worrier, so this is not always easy for me. Thankfully, I have a wonderful life partner in Jeramy, and an overflowing source of joy from my son. When things get too hectic, I can simply look at the two of them and know that I am part of a strong team.

Staying home together, talking and hugging and laughing and relaxing…that was the very best course of action for this day, one that resulted in us finding a source of strength as a family.

  1. It’s hard to think of “being still” as something we need to practice, but it is. Ironically, it’s almost something I would need to put on my to do list in order to make sure I make the time for it. Important enough, though, that perhaps I should!
