DIY Diorama For Kid’s Toys

I had to keep Simon home from our music class today. He spent most of the day with rivers of snot cascading down his face from this dang cold he caught, and I figured the other parents would appreciate me not sharing boogers with their kids. At least his mood is cheerful again, despite the coughing and constant nose-wipings from Mom and Dad.

Since we were stuck inside the house, we did a lot of imaginative playing.  Simon was really into dinosaurs today, so I decided to make a backdrop/diorama for him.

It was a very quick, thrown together job, as my child only has so much patience in his one and a half years. I grabbed some tissue paper, and cut some pictures out of the Land of Nod catalog, and glued it all down inside of a box from my new wellies. We made trees out of some snap-together blocks, added our dinosaurs, and had fun.

Simon’s favorite part was the yellow sunshine, which is the new word he learned today.

It may not be the most detailed or perfect diorama ever made, but it serves as an example of simple creative fun you can do with your child, using what you have on hand.
