Fairy Pincushion

I am still working at learning to sew. I figured a good idea for a starter project would be a pin cushion, since I will need one as I go forth into these sewing waters. I found a tutorial online here, and made this little pincushion with some fabric I bought on a whim, long before my Mom began teaching me. At the time I didn’t know what on earth I would end up using it for, but my lifelong love of fairy things took over me and I tossed it in my cart. Making this adorable little cushion makes me want to create some bigger cushions….or perhaps some covers for my couch pillows?

After the holidays are over, I can’t wait to get into some new projects.

  1. Those are adorable! I really want to learn to sew too… It’s on my mile-long list πŸ™‚

  2. Very nice result thanks for sharing! I want to do a pin cushion with my daughter who wants to learn – she is only 6 so I think it will have to be a bit more basic (and hand-stitched). Any thoughts?

    • Oh gosh, there is a book at the library right now (where I work) with simple sewing projects for kids. I wish I could remember the name of it. I think hand sewing a simple shape, and using a large sized hand sewing needle with some nice tough thread would be a great way to begin. πŸ™‚ I will try to remember that book!

  3. Sew cute:)))))
