Toddler Activity: Paint on Leaves

Yesterday, my Buggle and I did a little late-fall craft project together. The day before, I had collected some oak leaves, which are the only ones still supple and not totally crunchy and brittle this late in the season. Yesterday afternoon, I brought out his finger paints, and we got creative with the leaves as our paper.

I painted some right along with him, and once he saw what I was doing he dove right in. He seems to prefer using Q-tips as paintbrushes, rather than dipping his hands directly into the paint, so I always get some out for him now when we use fingerpaint. (If you have a little one who feels weird about getting their hands squishy like mine does, I recommend trying this to get them started.)

We both had fun breaking out of the usual paint-on-paper. For me, the best part was watching my little guy get excited making some art.
